Life in these times...

I could hardly believe it...'He did what?".."He peppered him nicely".."huh..you mean, the Vice-President of the US just shot and almost shattered the heart (not in a romantic way!) of an older gentleman? English is such a mellow language...it 'downplay' even the most horrific of acts...I wonder if a "colored person" can get away with accidentally shooting anyone in this country...and I am really tired of hearing,"guns don't kill people, people do"...Please tell me one good reason/use for this 'weapon of destruction'- which solely was created/exists to kill or maime- living creatures..

I would prefer "people in power "to have "huge libidos" and find ways to relieve themselves from stress in ways related to that- anyday, instead of shooting, bombing and killing for cheap thrills!

So...it's post-Valentine's day!

What's up in your world..do you have a smile on your face this morning? Do you think- you can maintain and sustain, whatever 'love' means to you...all the days of your life?
If not, why not?

Some expert was hawking a book called "The secrets of happily married men"...very nice..but are they really secrets? One can come up with a hundred reasons, why they are unhappy in a relationship, but the happy ones will usually tell you- they are just in general, "happier individuals", more tolerant, understanding and 'accept the partners' for who they are and sacrifice more- and make the best of life and love..There, I said it in two lines, instead of writing a book! Call it 'unconditional love' in two words- that works too...(*note- I did not use words like monogamous, perfect partner, ideal mate, soul mate etc...)  However, love is an individualized emotion. It is a part of who we are and just as no two people share the exact same emotional make-up, neither can they share totally identical expressions of their love for one another. The beauty of a strong and viable relationship is seen when two souls meet and the colors of their love complement each other.

Speaking of love...

Here are some lines from a great song by John Mayer...

"Fathers be good to your daughters,
Daughters will love like you do,
Girls become lovers, who turn into mothers..
So mothers be good to your daughters too!"

Can't say  it better than that...if you are a parent, hope you are listening:-)

********
Embrace love...

The sparks fly  in the dark, passions overflow..
Glorious nights...leave us with a glow..
The morning dawns with the seeping golden light...
Everything in the world seems so right..

Romance returns to reality.. that is sometimes stark
Sometimes cold and sometimes dark
Life intervenes, with a thousand people to please
Chasing dreams..challenges that never cease..

Time takes a toll on the best of lovers..
Never ending changes- this, that and the other..
Life transforms us--with or without our permission,
Embracing love- is the greatest of all missions..

This I believe...
